Duitse hoogspanningsmasten
Re: Duitse hoogspanningsmasten
In opposite to the Netherlands one can still find many overhead lines for local distribution in Germany with 400 volts. One remarkable facility of this kind can be found at Murr north of Ludwigsburg, where four 400 volt circuits leave the transformer station Hermannplatz.

Re: Duitse hoogspanningsmasten
The first pole carrying these circuits. It carries 16 conductors and one insulated cable. As I know, there is no other powerline support in Baden-Württemberg with more conductors.

Re: Duitse hoogspanningsmasten
At the next pole the circuits start to run in different directions whereby the circuits use small rooftop poles as supports after this tower.

Re: Duitse hoogspanningsmasten
Back again to high voltage. Tower 126 of Facility 4507 (powerline Rheinau-Hoheneck) was built in 1926. Until 2003 it carrried two circuits for 220 kV. Since 2003 there is only one circuit on it. However one conductor of the other circuit was left on it for better stability.

Re: Duitse hoogspanningsmasten
Approximately 50 metres eastward one can find Tower 74 of Facility 322. It is much newer and part of the 220 kV-line Neckarwestheim-Hoheneck. This line is today unused, but may be used in future again.

Re: Duitse hoogspanningsmasten
East of Pleidelsheim three powerlines crosses the motorway A81. The line on the left is the 220 kV-line Rheinau-Hoheneck built in 1926, the line in the middle is the 220 kV-line Hoheneck-Neckarwestheim, which was built in the 1960ies and which carried until 1976 only one circuit.
The line on the right is the powerline Neckarwestheim - Stuttgart/Mühlhausen, which was built in 1976 and which carries also the circuits of the 110 kV-single-phase AC line Neckarwestheim switching station - Stuttgart-Zazenhausen of the German railway company. Latter is beside the single-phase-AC power line Neckarwestheim Nuclear power station - Neckarwestheim switching station the only powerline of the German railway company using quadruple conductors.
The three-phase AC circuits on the middle and upper crossbar were originally operated with 220 kV, but now use 380 kV. Both circuits are since the conversion from 220 kV to 380 kV permanently paralellized.
In the following posts a closer look is thrown on these towers, starting from left to right.

Re: Duitse hoogspanningsmasten
The left tower on picture http://www.hoogspanningsforum.com/downl ... p?id=43023 is Tower 125 of Facility 4507. It belongs to the 220 kV-line Rheinau-Hoheneck built in 1926. However this tower is surely not the original tower as towers of this type are only exceptionally used at this line. I believe this tower was erected around the end of 1930ies, beginning of 1940ies, when the motorway was built as replacement of an other tower.
Originally, rhis was a double-circuit line, but in 2003 one circuit of the line was shut-down and the conductors on the lowest crossbar were removed.
The tower is incorrectly shown on Netkaart ( https://webkaart.hoogspanningsnet.com/i ... 535/9.2197 ) as Tower 126. Please correct!

Re: Duitse hoogspanningsmasten
The middle tower on picture http://www.hoogspanningsforum.com/downl ... p?id=43023 is Tower 73 of Facility 322 (220 kV powerline Neckarwestheim-Hoheneck). I do not know, when it was built, but I believe, it was in the 1960ies. Originally it carried only one circuit. The second was installed together with the garland-like communication cable on the ground conductor in 1976. In the 1990ies, it was equipped with cell-phone antennas.
At present the powerlines on the tower are unused, but may be reused in future.

Re: Duitse hoogspanningsmasten
The right tower on picture http://www.hoogspanningsforum.com/downl ... p?id=43023 is Tower 51 of Facility 373. It was built in 1976 and carries on the middle and upmost crossbars the circuits of the powerline Neckarwestheim - Stuttgart/Mühlhausen and on the lowest crossbar the circuits of the 110 kV single-phase-AC powerline Neckarwestheim switching station - Stuttgart/Zazenhausen of the German railway company. Latter is bedide the powerline Neckarwestheim switching station - Neckarwestheim nuclear power plant the only powerline of the German railway company using quadruple conductors.
The circuits on the middle and upmost crossbars were originally operated with 220 kV. A few years ago, their voltage was upgraded from 220 kV to 380 kV. At this measure the substation in Neckarwestheim was closed and the circuits were connected to the former powerline from Neckarwestheim to Grossgartach, so they are switched together permanently in paralell.
An interesting feature is that this tower has a second number. It carries the number "3494" in the single-phase AC grid of the German railway company.

Re: Duitse hoogspanningsmasten
Now a picture of the towers on the northern site of their crossings of motorway A81 east of Pleidelsheim.
The tower on the left belongs to the 220 kV-line Rheinau-Hoheneck built in 1926. Originally it was from the same type as that shown on http://www.hoogspanningsforum.com/downl ... p?id=43025, but in the 1990ies it was replaced by the actual tower.
