Tower 2A of Facility 306. This tower was originally built for the former Black Forest Line, the 220 kV-line from Wendlingen to Tiengen, in the 1940ies.
After demolition of Black Forest Line, this tower got a part of the powerline Wendlingen - Stuttgart/Möhringen, whose operation voltage was reduced from 220 kV to 110 kV.

On the area of Wendlingen substation, one can find an unused pylon, which was at those days, when the powerline Wendlingen - Stuttgart/Möhringen was operated with 220 kV, the first pylon of this line and which was also used as antenna tower.

Ach schön, ein letzter Mast der Schwarzwaldleitung steht sogar noch Übrigens, diese Leitung begann ursprünglich in Hoheneck, Wendlingen war per Abzweig auf baugleichen Tannenbaummasten angeschlossen. Irgendwann nach dem Bau des neuen Kraftwerks in Altbach wurde der Abschnitt Hoheneck-Unterensingen dann in Teilen abgebaut und die Schwarzwaldleitung auf ihren Beginn in Wendlingen gelegt, indem statt des Abzweigmasten Donaumasten gebaut wurden. Ein Abschnitt der alten Leitung wird heute durch eine Bahnstromleitung genutzt.

Mooi, een "allerlaatste" RWE-oud-dennenboom! Deze lijn liep oorspronkelijk van het grote RWE-station Hoheneck noordelijk van Stuttgart tot naar Tiengen, waar meerdere grote waterkrachtcentrales zijn. Wendlingen was een aftak met soortgelijke masten. Toen een nieuwe blok van de kolencentrale Altbach wordt gebouwd heeft men een deel van die oude lijn gesloopt. Een deel van het tracé is nu in gebruik voor een Bahnstrom-lijn.

For years, there are some friendly and ever-lasting disagreements here between pylon geeks in favour or just disliking the pragmatic, lean and somewhat pointy German pylon designs. But no matter what you think about it, all of us here have to admit German grid operators are the world emperors of combi towers. This particular line is massive and impressive.

It must be a joy for the eye to see a massive line like this proud running through the slightly undulating landscape full of wheat and grass on a warm summer day awaiting evening thunderstorms.
